I have always taken a thoughtful and systematic approach to learning and teaching. This has been the case for me in my own experiences while being educated in Iran and the UK, developing my scholarly engagement both as a lecturer and a researcher, and continually reflecting upon my practice.
I have drawn on scholarship, research, and my own professional activities, including local and community engagement, to facilitate the learning of my students. This has included research on learning and teaching practices, in addition to the topics in my field proper.
In my view, research and teaching are inextricably linked; they are not separate activities. They feed into and inform each other
I have maintained a balance between my research and my personal development through teaching, learning, and supporting students in their scholarly engagements in the fields of international political economy, development, and democracy, the subject areas that I teach.
I pioneered theDemocratic Education Network, a student-focused initiative based in the University of Westminster, engaging students worldwide. This project was a runner up at the prestigious Guardian University Awards in 2019. This project has built links with several ethnic communities in London and various vital strategic partners at a national and international level, such as Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand, and Peru. It works closely on politics, power, democracy, diversity, gender, and remittance.
I have been awarded 'Outstanding Teacher' in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2019 at the Staff Appreciation Awards managed by the Students Union. The awards recognise his outstanding commitment and contribution to engaging and supporting students.
My principal research interests lie in the international area of political economy, development studies with a regional focus on the Middle East and Central Asia. I have also done research on Teaching and Learning in Further and Higher Education.
My current research and forthcoming publication will be on the US and Iran conflict and the perspective for a change.
